Bitcoin Pushes Past $79K as Greed Returns

The crypto market is starting to feel greedy again, with the CMC Crypto Fear & Greed Index climbing to 69, its highest level since July 2025. At the same time, Bitcoin pushed above $79,000, giving investors another reason to feel optimistic. A reading of 69 means market sentiment has shifted firmly toward greed, as traders become more confident that prices could continue moving higher. This is a big change from the fear and uncertainty that has dominated parts of the market recently.

When sentiment gets this positive, it can attract even more buyers as people worry about missing the next move. However, high levels of greed can also be a warning that the market is getting overheated. For now, Bitcoin's move above $79K and the jump in overall sentiment show that confidence is clearly returning to crypto.

Memecoins Are Making Noise Again

The memecoin market is heating up again, with the combined market cap of memecoins pushing above $30 billion. Dogecoin, Shiba Inu and PEPE were among the biggest names making moves, with all three posting double digit gains. These coins are often driven as much by hype and community excitement as they are by traditional market fundamentals. When Bitcoin starts moving higher, traders often rotate into riskier assets looking for bigger gains, and memecoins are usually near the top of that list.

The latest rally shows that traders are becoming more willing to take on risk after a period of weaker sentiment. It also brings back memories of how quickly memecoin rallies can snowball once momentum takes over. Whether this turns into a sustained trend or another short-lived burst of speculation, memecoins are clearly back on traders radar.

Trump Says the US Could Buy More Bitcoin

President Donald Trump says the United States is considering buying sizable amounts of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The comments add fuel to the idea that the US could take a much more aggressive approach toward crypto than it has in the past. For Bitcoin investors, the idea of the world's largest economy becoming a major buyer is obviously a big deal. Even the possibility of large government purchases can influence market expectations because it could create significant additional demand. It also reinforces the broader shift toward treating Bitcoin as a strategic asset rather than simply a speculative investment.

The big question now is whether these comments eventually turn into an actual purchasing program and, if so, how large it could become. For now, Trump's comments alone are enough to give crypto investors another reason to pay attention.

The Treasury Finally Steps In

The US Treasury is doubling the size of its long term government debt buybacks after Treasury yields surged, increasing planned repurchases from $2 billion to at least $4 billion. The goal is to provide more liquidity for bonds with maturities between 10 and 30 years, where rising yields have created pressure in the market. In simple terms, the Treasury is stepping in to help support an important part of the bond market at a time when volatility has been picking up. This matters because Treasury bonds are the foundation of global financial markets, and problems in the bond market can quickly spill over into stocks, crypto and other assets.

The move comes as total US government debt approaches $40 trillion, making the stability of the Treasury market increasingly important. It is also the type of intervention many market watchers have been calling for as yields rise and liquidity becomes a bigger concern. Whether $4 billion is enough remains to be seen, but the increase signals that the Treasury is paying close attention to the pressure building in the long term bond market.
